What is “Peer Support”?

“Peer Support” encompasses a range of activities and interactions between people who have shared similar experiences. Peer support offers a level of acceptance, understanding, and validation not found in many other professional relationships. By sharing their own lived experience and practical guidance, peer workers help people to develop their own goals, create strategies for self-empowerment, and take concrete steps towards building fulfilling, self-determined lives for themselves.

Who are we?

CalHOPE Connect is brought to you by California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) through a partnership with California Department Health Care Services (DHCS) and local Mental Health Providers/Partners. CalMHSA serves California Counties and Cities in the dynamic delivery of mental health and supportive services. A nationally recognized leader, CalMHSA inspires the service community through its commitment to results and values. Successful statewide and regional programs enable the voice of many to be heard. We want to acknowledge and thank Riverside County for their contributions to Peer Chat support services. CalHOPE Connect leverages the MHSA funded Innovation project developed by Riverside County Take My Hand. Their leanings and collaboration have been invaluable to supporting Californians.
